Greetings, Friends of Wild River State Park, As the year comes to close we all have much to reflect on and much to be thankful for. In 2011 Wild River State Park, as it’s meant to be, was a place where families laughed around the campfire, connected as they hiked a trail, and relaxed with the chance to get away. It was a place where people tried new things and rekindled old memories. It was a place where volunteers young and old came to leave their legacy by collecting and spreading prairie seeds, caring for the resources, or sharing their stories and talents with new visitors. It was a place of learning and exploration for thousands of youth and their teachers. It was a place where wildlife thrived – bald eagles nested, trumpeter swans swam, flowers bloomed, and countless water critters, insects, plants, and animals called home. From the staff, thank you for stopping to say hi, for the kind words, and occasional treats. J From the park, thank you for continuing to support your 7,000 acre backyard-away-from-home. An old proverb says, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” We look forward to seeing you in 2012. Kacie Carlson
